Crysis Demo is Out

Crysis demo just official out. It is a third person shooter game. It is using CryENGINE2 game engine, successor of CryENGINE used in Far Cry, and published by Electronic Arts. The final game will release in 15/16 November 2007.
What is Crysis?
“Crysis is based in a fictional future, where an alien race has invaded Earth. The single player campaign has the player assume the role of Jake Dunn. Dunn is a United States Delta Force operative, who is armed with various futuristic weapons and equipment, most notably a “Nano Muscle Suit”, which is an artificial and technologically advanced exoskeleton, inspired by the United States’ Future Warrior 2020 program, according to Bernd Diemer, one of Crytek’s senior game designers. In Crysis, the player fights both North Korean and extraterrestrial enemies, in four different locations: a tropical island jungle; an American aircraft carrier; inside an “Ice Sphere“, which will consist of the same jungle, but frozen; and the alien ship itself, some parts of which will be zero-gravity. Crysis will utilize Microsoft’s new API, Direct3D 10 (DirectX 10) for graphics rendering, and will include the same editor that was used by Crytek to create the game.” - [Wiki]

I had just finished download and install. It took me 2hours and 30 minutes to finish the download, 5 minutes to extract the setup files and 10 minutes to complete the installation of the game, 1.8+Gb.

The game starts with “warning-demo-screen” (as usual), EA publisher(quite cool logo), CryTek, Nvidia and Intel Core2Duo Extreme.
By default, it sets the game setting as low, in 800×600 resolution due to my old machine. I have test out low settings and medium settings in 1024×768 resolution. In medium settings, I only can get maximum of 10fps. Shoot! That’s darn bad for FPS(First Person Shooter) game.
The graphics look extremely great although it is only in medium settings. So, I have to set to low settings in order to play the game smoothly, I can get maximum of 30fps in low settings. But sometimes it does freeze for awhile. What to do? The gameplay is great as well and the audio is awesome, I kinda addicted to the game, but no much time to play due to my studies and assignments. Killing my life badly.
Actually I downloaded a pre-release demo, thanks to some guy from LYN. In this demo, it disables the multiplayer feature. I’m not so sure myself, I think it will auto-enable when download some online patches *if you already have pre-order Crysis. In the single mode, it starts with some introduction video. It reminds me of Halo.
There is something going on in the time of 7th August 2020. What?! Wait a minute? 2020? Our Malaysia so-called-vision and few weeks before our “Merdeka” Day. Two weeks later, you and your team have one mission to go to North Korea to check it out. So the game starts from there. Jumping out from the plane and out of sudden, something goes wrong. You manage to pull out the parachute and land to a beach. Your mission starts here. Exploring the “jungle” and finding your teammates. Later on, you will find some weird scene where many soldiers were dead. Something killed them. I only play for awhile.
The AI in the game is quite smart and tough. You require to kill the soldiers in “silent mode”, something like Hitman. Or else, the soldiers will call their backup. That’s a chaos. Because of the USA-advance-suit, you will not be killed easily. HP(Life indicator) will be auto-recovered once you get minor injuries. You can enable the invisible cloak ( like Harry Potter
) to hide yourself and re-appear to kill your opponent or save your own life.
My machine is Intel Pentium D 2.66Ghz, 768MB DDR RAM, AGP 6800XT 128MB, lousy-mainboard
, 3 HDDs, 1 DVD burner and 1 DVD Reader. In other words, I playing in DX9 instead of DX10. Overall, I give it 9 out of 10 for the demo. Recommended every gamers should try this darn-awesome demo. Below are some of my screenshot captured via fraps.
