Opera Mini 4 Beta

Last week ago, Opera just released new beta for desktop browser(9.50) and Opera Mini ( 4 beta 3). I have test out both of the software. I would say it was a great experience use these two softwares. I just briefly talks about opera browser for desktop. It is much lightweight and smooth scrolling. I have use firefox, which I find out that sometimes it does lags or freezes when loading javascript pages/sites, for an example like my own blog.

Apart of that, Opera release new product, Opera Link. It is a way to keep your web surfing activity synchronized across all the browsers you use, on multiple desktops and mobile devices, even if they aren’t all running Opera browsers!

Opera Link is integrated into both Betas. There’s a Synchronize Opera… item in the Opera 9.5 File menu and also at the bottom of the Opera Mini start page. Click either one and you are prompted for your My Opera account and password. If you don’t have an account, there’s a Register button on both the desktop and mobile Opera Link login screens. Once it’s started, Opera Link silently synchronizes any changes you make to your bookmarks or Opera Speed Dial shortcuts across all copies of Opera 9.5 or Opera Mini 4.0 Beta 3. Changes also show up on a personalized page at link.opera.com where you can login and use your bookmarks and speed dial from any browser, anywhere. Opera Link is very user friendly, you just log into it once and then use your browser to create bookmarks just as you would normally, but with the Opera Link your bookmarks now follow you wherever you go. Opera Mini 4 Review

Opera mini 4 is installed in my phone, w900i. It runs quite fast and stable as well. This version is similar to iPhone’s almighty-browser (Safari). It manage to render out the whole page as if it is like normal desktop browser. The below images are taken by my dad phone, w800, so it is quite blurry and hard to capture clear view.

I set Opera Mini in horizontal view for a bigger space to view sites. It loads smoothly to my mobile page. Scroll to the bottom and click to view my actual page. YATTA!! It manage to render everything in my page correctly, but only with few exceptions, such as CSS.

Yes, there will be a pointer on the page, similar to Nokia N95 default browser(test it on my friend’s N95). Click or Press button 5 on keypad to zoom in the page. It manage to render out the flash content. Is it amazing? Apparently the flash is remaining static, it just render out the content as an image. Javascript works pretty well. It manages to close the panel(Check me?!) and renders out the reflection of the image, which is another plugin that I use

Sadly, I only manage to take one clear image.

Overall,  it is a great piece of application for mobile. I would say it is a must have application for any mobile, even for iPhone, if it does support .JAR/JAD file.   For future, I hope it would improve more on the CSS and javascript, as well as flash   . Under my shoutout box, it is a disaster.  :!:

PS: In this review, I have to use GPRS connection to test it out. It costs me 5bucks.  Lastly, Happy Halloween. SEE IN HELL
