There’s something in the Air?
MacWorld Expo 2008 has just finished. The main event for this keynote is “Macbook Air“, another version for macbook line. It is targeted mainly for business/traveling person. It is only 3 pounds and 0.16 to 0.76 inch of sleek, sturdy anodized aluminum. By the way, the naming seems to related to “Nike Air” =.=!!!

This so-called ultra-portable is still 13.3″, same like his bro (macbook). It has one new technology apart of his slimmest. The technology is the trackpad, which is now multi-touch trackpad. It uses the similar technology as iPod Touch or iPhone. Zooming by pinch gesture and etc. Since it is ultra slim, so it surely does not have optical drive. Wait.. There’s one new technology. It allow to “borrow” other machines’ optical drive via wifi, which called “Remote Disc” feature. The machine must install the software first from Leopard DVD, even normal machines with winxp or vista works as well. Battery life can stand up to 5hours
Sadly, only got one USB port. No firewire, No LAN. Just 3 ports, one USB, one headset jack and one micro-DVI. For the price? Yea.. It is USD1799 which is 1.6Ghz Core2Duo (Apple purposely ask Intel to make the processor smaller of 60%), 2Gb DDR2 RAM (build onboard, so CANNOT upgrade) and 80Gb HDD. Apple offer 1.8Ghz speed for the processor and 64Gb SSD (flash memory drive) for a double price. USD3k+.
Apart of this, there also has new product which is Time Capsule. Basically it is Airport Extreme Base with HDD. It allow to backup your data via wifi with Time Machine support.
Few new applications for iPhone and iPod Touch. And finally. SDK for iPhone coming this late Feb.
