Two Big Malls Came to City of Cats - Part 1

I came, I saw and I stepped in… Boulevard and tHe Spring

City of Cats has been doomed by those two huge Malls (Boulevard and tHe Spring). Boulevard is located at 3 and half miles or Jalan Penrissen, whereas tHe Spring is located at the Simpang Tiga or Kenyalang area. This entry will be talking more on Boulevard or “Fu Li Hua” in Chinese.

Boulevard is the first mall to open at 22nd of Dec 2007, but it is also consider a bit cheating. Boulevard is still incomplete. The current Boulevard open on its first phrase, the second phrase is still under-construction. Boulevard is owned by the big timber tycoon from Miri, Sarawak. Architecture wise?

Boulevard Kuching Phase 1 = 150k square feet
Boulevard Kuching Phase 2 = 750k square feet

The Spring = 1.1mil square feet

I went to ‘Fu Li Hua‘ with my family on the first day. It was really pack. The feeling was like going to the Kuching Food Festival. All the entire Kuchingites went to there because of the “brand new toilet” smell.  All the cars were simply parked at the roadside and make the road freaking JAM!!!I feel pity for the residents near there

“It seems like all the Kuching people go to Boulevard”, told by my dad in the car.

Moment later inside Boulevard…

“Son, today all the Kuching people come to here. Better buy things on other days.”, told by one of a guy to his son.

After I heard it, I was like… *speechless*

The most crowded area is the hypermarket. The hypermarket was on the ground floor, near the entrance. I had noticed that everyone was buying that same thing from the hypermarket. It is TOILET ROLLS. =,=!!!

Not much outlets were opened on the first day. I would say that timber tycoon is very kiasu. Only the Boulevard itself stores, such as Boulevard Hypermarket and Boulevard Department Store opened. The only food outlets were Kenny Rogers and Sushi King. Indeed, over-crowded. I heard my dad mention recently, Sushi King at Boulevard earn a roughly RM6k for the first day. But wait, it earn roughly RM10k for second day!!! OMG!!!

KFC and Pizza Hut still underconstruction. Only few outlets were fully opened, such as Cindy, Hang Ten and etc.
By the way, my first impression for that ’Hang Ten’ was a foot massage centre. I was shock to see a foot logo. =.=!!! The clothes at there are highly pricey and from Taiwan.

The Design of Boulevard is not so unique as tHe Spring. There are many events going on and SUPP tries to give supports.
On the 10th of January 2007, there is some concert competition and ‘Mega Sales’ held in Boulevard. On the same day is also the opening day for tHe Spring.

The second part will be posted soon. Btw, HAPPY SHOPPING!
