VMware Fusion goes Public 2.0 Beta

Since Apple Inc. had been switch to “Intel processor” path, there has been a serious virtualization battle between these two big companies, VMware and Parallels. And currently VMware has just release open Beta of the newer version of Fusion (virtualization for Mac). I’m pretty sure Parallels will release the next version pretty soon.

Public Beta 2.0 has a big improvement in the layout. It’s pretty much consistent as in Mac environment, rather than in Windows environment. VMware is original developed virtualization software for windows (enable to install different platforms as a Guest onto the host system). This improved version has bits of similarity from its rival. The feature is enable to use its rival virtual HDD as its own virtual HDD and now supported DX9 with Shader Pixel 2.0 .

  • True Multiple Display Support
  • DirectX 9.0 with Shader Model 2 graphics
  • Virtual Printing
  • New Virtual Machine Library
  • New Settings Editor
  • Shared Folders Improvements
  • Integrated VMware Importer and VMware Converter (P2V)
  • USB Improvements
  • Networking Improvements
  • Unity Improvements
  • Full Screen Improvements
  • Mouse and Keyboard Improvements
Currently the beta version is only available in English language. More information and downloadable on here. Beware on the file size of this version, pretty darn huge (300MB).
PS: I have just tested the Public Beta 2.0 Fusion. Sadly it’s not so good in the graphic part. Probably due to my low-end macbook Intel integrated graphic card (GMA X3100). The above screenshot is running in Unity mode
