Spore Creature Creator: First Look (UPDATED)

Spore Creature Creator: First Look

Spore Creature Creator will release on 17th June 2008 (Full version US$9.99 & free limited version), which is tomorrow. Somehow, there’s a leaked version on the internet. This is why I can write this entry. Spore full game will be release on September 7th 2008(North America), September 5th 2008 (Europe).

Updates: Now you can download SPORE Creature Creator Trial at here.

Spore is a multi-genre “massively single-player online game” under development by Maxis and designed by Will Wright. It allows a player to control the evolution of a species from its beginnings as a unicellular organism, through development as an intelligent and social land-walking creature, to levels of interstellar exploration as a spacefaring culture. - wiki.

I am quite surprise that the creator is NOT similar like the sims 2. It is way more powerful compare to the sims 2 creator. Sadly, this leaked version is only 25% of the full Spore Creature Creator. One of the big different is user can test out the creature created in the test environment. User will have a full preview of how the full game (Spore) is going to be.

Spore Creature Creator: ScreenShot 01

The game engine or game style is similar like the sims 2 creator. There will have three main section, building your creature (with parts such as eyes, mouth, legs & hand, weapons and etc), painting your creature (with rich texture and various of colours), and testing your creature in the test-lab environment.

Building your creature is a pretty fun section. It is similar style like sims 2, where you can adjust the part sizes and etc. Spore lets you create more in your own taste. You can adjust the size of your creature by dragging. It is a fun experience.

Painting your creature is not so great. Probably due to the leaked version fault. It is quite limited and I can’t paint in a very specific area, let say only the eyes section. It has a feature(a list of predefined paint libraries) and you can select that paint style to apply to your own creature.

Testing your creature in test-lab environment is pretty cool experience. Sadly, your creature only allow to move within the test-lab environment (inside a circle compound). There is a similar taskbar like the sims 2. There are some interactive actions. These actions will able the user to view your creature react. For example, user click the jumping action. user’s creature will jump accordingly. There is also a feature to let user view how user’s creature interact with its child/children. Other than interaction part, it allow user to capture the screenshot or video. User has the option to mail the screenshot to friends or upload the video to youtube. It’s a great integration. One last thing, it can create your creature avatar in .gif format.

Multitouch Windows 7?

Founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates had just announce the new feature implemented in the next windows operating system (Windows7) at All Things Digital.

It is multi-touch feature in the next Operating System. Based on the video, the interface had no changes, but only added multi-touch feature and a dock-like shortcut applications. It is more likely based on microsoft surface (multi-touch coffee table) which costs thousand of US dollars.

“Vista + Multitouch = Windows 7″

I doubt this will be any good to normal consumers. It is said to be in 18months before it ships to consumers. In addition, this might be good for tablet/touch-screen laptops/LCD. Just wandering what will Apple Inc. comes out with its own next generation of mac OS. xD

Excellent Course Offered in UiTM

Unbelievable news!!! What an excellent and stunning course offered in UiTM. Simple bravo…

This must be a breakthrough for the country of Malaysia. Do you want to know what excellent course offer? It’s the  goddess ‘Online Web Log‘ course. UiTM is willing to offer this excellent course to the Malaysian. What an outstanding idea.

I was freaking shock when I’ve heard the news. Course for blog? After graduate, what career path can you undergo? This is madness!!!

I was just starting to think. What textbook will UiTM use? Blogging for DUMMIES? :D And how about the lecturers? I suppose one of the lecturers would be our-popular-Kuching-blogger-seeker, KennySia. Great~Sensei? xD

Everybody can be a blogger but we cannot simply write as we like because there are certain rules to be observed, like whether the words used are ethical and the subject matter is true or otherwise

That’s their purpose for offering this course to our Malaysian students. It surely will be a ‘fun’ class.

VMware Fusion goes Public 2.0 Beta

Since Apple Inc. had been switch to “Intel processor” path, there has been a serious virtualization battle between these two big companies, VMware and Parallels. And currently VMware has just release open Beta of the newer version of Fusion (virtualization for Mac). I’m pretty sure Parallels will release the next version pretty soon.

Public Beta 2.0 has a big improvement in the layout. It’s pretty much consistent as in Mac environment, rather than in Windows environment. VMware is original developed virtualization software for windows (enable to install different platforms as a Guest onto the host system). This improved version has bits of similarity from its rival. The feature is enable to use its rival virtual HDD as its own virtual HDD and now supported DX9 with Shader Pixel 2.0 .

  • True Multiple Display Support
  • DirectX 9.0 with Shader Model 2 graphics
  • Virtual Printing
  • New Virtual Machine Library
  • New Settings Editor
  • Shared Folders Improvements
  • Integrated VMware Importer and VMware Converter (P2V)
  • USB Improvements
  • Networking Improvements
  • Unity Improvements
  • Full Screen Improvements
  • Mouse and Keyboard Improvements
Currently the beta version is only available in English language. More information and downloadable on here. Beware on the file size of this version, pretty darn huge (300MB).
PS: I have just tested the Public Beta 2.0 Fusion. Sadly it’s not so good in the graphic part. Probably due to my low-end macbook Intel integrated graphic card (GMA X3100). The above screenshot is running in Unity mode
